AVG Anti-Virus Update Problem - download updates manually

CHM Tech

Note: This video was published in 2008. and is now obsolete!

Because of a problem with the AVG server, AVG anti-virus users can not download new updates and therefor are not safe from the latest threats. In this video you can see how to manually download the updates until they fix the problem. you can also see a forum discussion about it here:

I'm using AVG Anti-Virus 2011, and I recently ran into the issue of "A .bin file is missing." What I did: 1. Open the AVG User Interface. 2. Access "Advanced Settings" from the "Tools" menu. 3. Go to "Manage" in the "Update" branch. 4. Click "Delete Temporary Update Files." 5. Try to update AVG. It worked for me now. Has anyone else done this method with success?

@Jay_kaying

Another user recently had the same issue and here is what AVG told them to do: "Update failed - general error " - Please open the settings of "Update Manager" component: - Open the AVG User Interface (for example by clicking on the AVG icon on your desktop). - Choose "Advanced settings" from the "Tools" menu. - Select the "Update" item. - Select the "Manage" tab and click on the "Delete temporary update files" button. -Update AVG Program

@emwinslimshady However, my computer has now been changed to run on Windows 7 instead of Windows Vista, and I have not had any problems related to AVG 11 yet.
